How does FoodAdvise choose?

We look for nearby restaurants Google reports as open, with at least a 4.3 rating and 50 reviews. Then we make a weighted random pick, giving well-reviewed places a better chance. You get one suggestion at a time.

What do Budget and Premium mean?

Budget includes inexpensive and moderately priced places, plus places with no price tier listed. Premium includes places Google lists as expensive or very expensive. These are price tiers, not a quoted menu price.

Why do you need my location?

To find somewhere near you. We ask only when you tap “Decide for me”. Your coordinates go to this service and Google Places for the current search. Nearby results are temporarily cached on the server using an approximate search location. We don’t save a location history in this browser. Google and the hosting provider have their own logging policies.

What if nothing turns up nearby?

We start within a 1.5 km radius. If no place qualifies, you can search within 3 km, then 6 km, or try the other budget. Distance is measured in a straight line; check the actual route in Maps.

Where do my saved places go?

Saved marks stay in this browser on this device. Saving marks a pick so you can recognize it again; there is no account, synced list, or recovery if you clear browser storage.

Can I trust the hours and restaurant details?

Hours, ratings, price tiers, and photos come from Google and may be missing or out of date. FoodAdvise is a suggestion. Check the restaurant’s current hours and route in Maps before travelling.
